Don't know how this slipped through the cracks. In the early 80's there was a film called "heartbeeps" starring Andy Kaufman. Hailed as one of the worst films ever made it slipped into oblivion. I saw it once on HBO and was as bad as advertised. However, the credits list a robot character named Phil and it is voiced by...Jerry Garcia. Anyone know how he became involved with the project or anything else to add?

can't be too sure but I think the little robot toward the end of the clip is the garcia character. My speakers are shot so I don't know if you can hear him.

After some digging...I found out Jerry did some guitar work to add to the soundtrack to a low budget film called "Deathsport" . It was directed by the same guy who did Heartbeeps. Also this guy directed a film called Get Crazy which is an homage to Bill graham.

this might get roger waters on my case again but when looking into the jerry-"careful with this axe eugene" urban myth last week I ran across the movie soundtrack from Zabriskie Point. Jerry plays a solo acoustic track and pink floyd provides multiple tracks including "come in number 5" which is really "careful with that axe eugene".

I have been able to find the floyd tracks but not the jerry one...

Members of the band appear in another very bad Flick from the 60's called Petulia. There is one scene whaere George C. Scott and the woman are talking in a parking lot under a large concert poster with a beardless Jerry (Avalon Ballroom I Think.
There's also a scene where someone is being taken to the hospital in an ambulance and Bobby and some other band members jump on the back and look through the window. I think there is a scene in a Club with Janis singing as well.
I saw this film once in a movie class in college, and that was twenty-six yrs ago ( and I was probably stoned as well...LOL), so some of the memopries may be a little fuzzy.

Petulia---jeez!

I was pretty little. As married couples do sometimes, my Mom and Dad had what was apparently a fairly bitter spat, and she got it in her mind that she was going to take the kids and leave. Don't get the wrong idea--this was a VERY unusual sort of thing for her to do. She had to have been really upset. She loads my sister and brother and me into the Chevy and drives off into the night, but really had nowhere to go, so she decides we'll go to the drive-in movie theater and she can blow off some steam for awhile. The movie that was playing was irrelevant to her, but it now has a subliminal relevance to me I suppose.

Yep. Petulia.
